Traditional masonry and lime washing, utilising rope access and steeplejack techniques to enable access. Kinlochaline Castle, on the Ardtornish Estate, is a listed family home at the far end of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula looking out toward the Isle of Mull and the West.
WORK SCOPE
The exposed location makes for extreme weathering of external surfaces, and whilst two elevations could be scaffolded for renewal of limewash, two could not, and we were asked to provide a solution using rope access. Together with our associate rope access qualified lime specialist, SG undertook the spray application of new limewash, rigging from resin fixed anchors and structural stonework. Complex and challenging rigging to achieve access outside pinnacles and corner towers, combined with the spectacular setting, deer, barn owls, and even an osprey, made this one of our most memorable and rewarding projects.
