ISLE OF FIDRA

Firth of Forth, Scotland
Vegetation Management, Conservation Work
Vegetation management for wildlife conservation

We were thrilled to have been appointed by RSPB to carry out vegetation clearance via rope access from the cliffs of the Isle of Fidra in 2011, and have had the pleasure of returning a number of times in the years since. A remote and beautiful location accessible only by boat, and visited by dolphins on route, our teams have thoroughly enjoyed each and every visit to carry out this rewarding work which helps to protect breeding puffins.

Type: Rope Access
DURATION: Since 2011
TEAM: 3 PEOPLE
WORK SCOPE

Rigging from a combination of specialist ground anchors and immovable rock formations, the specialist SG rope access team gain access to the cliffs and steep embankments to remove tree mallow, an invasive plant species that are not native to our shores and the roots of which invade puffin burrows and interferes with nesting and breeding.
