Mode of access: Rope Access, MEWP
Task in hand: Consultancy. Safe Access Systems. Cleaning & Maintenance.
Location: Wishaw, Glasgow
Team Size: 5
Duration: 7 months + Ongoing Maintenance
Designed in a grid style with 18 internal courtyards, Wishaw General Hospital was completed prior to the arrival of CDM regulations, which dictate a requirement for a maintenance plan to be incorporated into the design and construction of any building. Consequently the hospital was without a roof access system or high level maintenance strategy, and maintenance could not be carried out safely at high level throughout the majority of the hospital.
SG Access designed and installed a custom system of class A1 anchor bolts to afford rope access technicians access to the rooves and high level areas which were previously inaccessible.
Subsequently we were awarded the ongoing high level maintenance for the hospital, initially carrying out a comprehensive repair and maintenance programme throughout, following which we carried out extensive cleaning and pressure washing works to the full hospital exterior, and the repointing of all high level masonry.
SG remaining on call for emergency high level repairs as part of the ongoing maintenance for the hospital.
