Mode of access: Rope Access
Task in hand: Safety Supervision, Masonry Inspection
Location: London, UK
Inspection of arrow slit stonework on Broad Arrow Tower within the Tower of London required hands on inspection in a difficult to access location that was inaccessible to the architect.
Our IRATA Level 3 Safety Supervisors rigged a controlled access and recovery system to lower the architect to the inspection position, abseiled alongside to aid with the works and to maintain comfort and security, and ensured absolute safety during the the smooth process of descent, ascent, and inspection.
Not our largest, but one of our favourite projects to date, it was a pleasure to work for such a great client on an iconic and fascinating building, whose history began with William the Conqueror in 1066. We wonder how many people have had the rare privelage to abseil from it’s ramparts since then.
