ST GILES CATHEDRAL

Edinburgh, Scotland
Structural Inspection, Masonry Works, Gilded Terminal Installation
A crowning achievement for our rope access masonry team

SG were honoured to have been selected for extensive works to the Crown of St Giles Cathedral, where we had the privilege of carrying out condition surveys, traditional masonry, and various installation works. One of the highest points in the city … and one of the high points of our careers working up there – a truly magnificent structure!

Type: Rope Access
DURATION: 3 YEARS
TEAM: 4 PEOPLE
WORK SCOPE

With multiple phases over a 3 year period, SG rope access technicians first carried out a thorough condition survey of the uncapped pinnacles and masonry buttresses, which informed our subsequent installation of gilded terminals, lightning protection system installation, and traditional lime repointing and stone repairs throughout the magnificent structure, restoring the Crown to all it’s resplendent glory.
