Royal Botanic Gardens

A broad cross section of our services bundled into one fascinating project, we are grateful for having been given the opportunity to work at the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh, providing detailed surveys, safe access consultancy, safety installations, maintenance and high level glazing restoration.

Mode of access: Rope Access

Task in hand: Consultancy, Safety Works, Glazing

Location: Edinburgh, Scotland

Team Size: 6

Duration: 4 months + Ongoing Maintenance

Following an initial consultancy period, SG Access provided reports detailing safe modes of access for both rope access and non rope access personnel, and designs were drawn up for a safe access systems to be installed, enabling safe access to previously unreachable locations. Our rope access team used combinations of specialist rigging, aid climbing, custom ladders, and fall arrest rescue winches to install safety netting within the magnificent Victorian Palm House to protect staff and members of the public, and carried out extensive glazing maintenance throughout to help restore the glasshouses to their former glory.

Following the initial consultancy and restoration works, SG are now on call for emergency safety glazing maintenance at the Botanics.
